Thessaloniki, Greece
Had a good night’s sleep and am feeling refreshed. Breakfast was awesome with coffee, peach halves, a type of yogurt/cream, a mini spanakopita roll, a cream-filled square of strudel and coffee. The train station is a five-minute walk and I have made arrangements to travel by train to the town of Kalambaka, stay one night for a tour of Meteora Monasteries on Tuesday, then head south to Delphi. I had a reservation for Athens but just can’t handle another big city at the moment so am not going there. I am feeling rested and slightly irritated that I booked a non-refundable hotel in Athens. I will just have to accept those things I cannot change, a lesson in flexibility and humility.
Remember the patient taxi driver I could not pay yesterday? I contacted my credit card company and they helped me change my pin for accessing ATMs. I scooted right out to the ATM I tried to use yesterday, and it worked! I have cash and just paid the taxi driver. It feels so good having that debt taken care of, relief and happiness that I could honor my commitment. He was such a kind gentleman. More gratitude abounds.
I thought about heading out to see some sights but the weather is hot and I am taking a recovery day, just hanging around the hotel and making the next set of travel arrangements. It’s a bit stressful trying to do arrangements with my phone as I travel. I prefer using reliable wifi and my laptop with its wider screen because my eyesight is not what it used to be! Wishing you all health and happiness.
